Biography
Dr. Libânio Miranda Pinheiro holds a degree in Civil Engineering (1972), a master's degree (1981) and a doctorate (1988), both in Structural Engineering, all in São Carlos, at the University of São Paulo USP. From September 1989 to August 1990, he developed a postdoctoral program in the USA, at PENN STATE, State College, Pennsylvania. He was a FAPESP Master's Fellow (Mar / 1973 to Feb / 1974), designer of reinforced concrete structures (Mar / 1974 to Dec / 1984), Full Professor of PUC of Campinas (1976 to 1984) and Full Professor of Faculty of Engineering Civil of São José do Rio Preto (1981). He is a professor in the Department of Structural Engineering of the School of Engineering of São Carlos EESC-USP, since 1981, in Exclusive Dedication since 1985, where he teaches postgraduate courses since 1987. In this Department, was a pioneer in research on Theory of Plastic Hinges Applied to the Project of Building Slabs, Structural Masonry, High Performance Concrete, Concrete Pavements, Structural Elements of Recycled Polymers. He was Research Coordinator (1990 to 1993), Coordinator of Graduation (1998 to 2003), Coordinator of the Discipline Internship in Structures (1999 to 2005) and was part of the Coordinating Committee of the Civil Engineering Course (1998 to 2006). He has been a member of the Editorial Board of the Engineering and Research Journal since 1999 and was a member of the Board of Co-editors of the IBRACON Structural Journal (IBRACON Structural Journal) from 2004 to 2006 and of the Scientific Committee of the Brazilian Concrete Congress, in 2004 and 2005. He has been a member of the IBRACON Technical Committee 301 since 2004, an ad hoc consultant at FAPESP since 1995, and CNPq (1996 to 2005). He was a research fellow at CNPq (1994 to 2005), and is Coordinator of CNPq's Research Group on Concrete Structures. Currently, it develops research related mainly to the following topics: reinforced concrete, ultralight structural concrete (in the initial phase), building structures and precast concrete structures.
