Luciano Siani Pires

Biography

  Mr. Luciano Siani Pires serves as a Chief Financial Officer at Vale S.A. and served its as an Executive Officer for Finance and Investor Relations. Mr. Pires has been Chief Financial Officer of Vale Nouvelle-Calédonie SAS and Vale Australia (IP) Pty Limited since August 2012. Mr. Pires is responsible for the areas of Procurement and Information Technology at Vale Nouvelle-Calédonie. He served as the Chief Financial Officer of Vale S.A. since August 2012 and its Investor Relations Officer. Mr. Pires has been the Chief Financial Officer of Vale Canada Limited since August 2012. He served as the Chief Financial and Investor Relations Officer of Vale S.A. since August 2012 until July 31, 2015. Mr. Pires joined Vale in 2008 and has an extensive professional experience. He has extensive professional experience in the areas of finance, capital markets and strategic planning. He served as an Executive Officer of Investor Relations at Vale S.A. since August 2012. He served as a Global Director of Strategic Planning at Vale from 2008 to July 2012, Global Director of Human Resources and Governance from 2009 to 2011 and returned to Strategic Planning in 2011. From 2007 to 2008, he served as the Chief of Staff and Executive Secretary to the President at Brazil’s National Development Bank (BNDES), where he previously worked from 2005 to 2006 as Chief of the Holding Management Department (Capital Markets), and Head of the Export Finance Department from 2001 to 2002. At BNDES, from 1992 to 1999, he held positions in the areas of financial planning, investor relations and capital markets. He served as Head of the Securities Portfolio Management Department of BNDES. Since May 2005. From 2003 to 2005, Mr. Pires was a Consultant at McKinsey & Company, focusing on the basic materials sector. Mr. Pires served as a Director of Suzano Papel e Celulose S.A. (Formerly, Suzano Bahia Sul Papel E Celulose Sa) since 2005. He served as a Regular Director of Tele Norte Leste Participacoes S.A. since August 31, 2005. He served as a Director of Vale S.A. since May 2005. He has taught for MBA programs at COPPEAD at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). Mr. Pires holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Pontifcia Universidade Catlica of Rio de Janeiro in 1991 and MBA summa cum laude with a Finance specialization, from New York University Stern School of Business in 2001.
