Erik Madsen

Biography

Mr. Erik Madsen serves as the Chief Executive Officer at St. Marys Cement Inc. Mr. Madsen serves as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Votorantim Cimentos North America, Inc. He has been the Head of European, African and Asian Operations at Votorantim Cimentos S.A. since 2012. He served as a Vice President of Sustainable Development Health, Safety & Environment at Baffinland Iron Mines Corp., until April 22, 2016. He served as a Director of International Operations of Votorantim Cimentos S.A., and also served as its Director of New Business. He has over 25 years of northern experience in mine operations, regulatory permitting, including engagement with aboriginal and non-aboriginal governments. His latest position was Director of Communities/External Relations & Winter Road Operations with Diavik and for the Tibbitt to Contwoyto Winter Road Joint Venture, the infrastructure life line for the three operating diamond mines in the NWT. Mr. Madsen was with Diavik Diamond Mines for more than 15 years including served as its Environmental Manager and responsible for the baseline studies for the Diavik project and the EA and permitting of the mine. He worked at the mine site during the construction phase of the project and then served as Health and Safety Manager at Diavik Diamond Mines fro two years, Northern Affairs Manager for two years and also served as its Director of Winter Road. Prior to working with Diavik, he served as a Superintendent of Environmental Affairs for Royal Oak Mines and Industrial Coordinator of DIAND for 3 years and also worked for 6 years at the Con Mine as the Environmental Coordinator. Mr. Madsen served as a Director of Cimentos De Portugal SGPS SA until December 2012. He holds a Diploma in Environmental Sciences from NAIT in Edmonton.
