Miguel Normando Abdalla Saad

Biography

Mr. Miguel Normando Abdalla Saad has been the Chief Generation Officer of CPFL Energia since 2002. Mr. Saad served as Chief Power Generation Executive Officer of Companhia Piratininga De Forca E Luz. since 2002 and served as its Member of Board of Executive Officers and Vice Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Saad serves as Vice President of generation of Companhia Paulista de Forca E Luz, a subsidiary of CPFL Energia; Gerao and its controlled companies, Centrais Eltricas and Semesa. He serves as the Energy Generation Officer of CPFL Geração, CPFL Bioenergia and CPFL Sul Centrais Elétricas. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of CPFL Energias Renováveis S.A. and served as its Member of Management Board since August 24, 2011. Mr. Saad served as Vice-President of Generation of CPFL Energia S.A. since August 28, 2002 until May 25, 2011 and also served as its Member of Executive Board until May 25, 2011. Mr. Saad acted in several key positions at Companhia Energética de São Paulo (CESP) from 1974 to 2000, such as Head Engineer of the Concrete Sector of the Civil Engineering Laboratory, Manager of the Water and Thermal Resources Division, an assistant manager of the Electrical System Expansion Planning Department and Manager of the Department of Construction and Contracts. He served as a visiting scholar at University of California -- Berkeley (1978) in the department of civil engineering. He also served as a member of the American Concrete Institute and the Brazilian Concrete Institute from 1978 to 1990, acting in the committee of concrete technology and concrete construction. Mr. Saad served as President of the So Paulo Division of the Brazilian Commission on Large Dams from 1994 to 1997. He serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of ENERCAN, Foz do Chapecó Energia and CERAN and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of BAESA, CPFL Paulista, CPFL Piratininga and RGE. He has been an Independent Director at WEG S.A. since 2017. Mr. Saad received a degree in Civil Engineering from University of So Paulo-USP in 1973
