Biography

Born: 29 October 1959 Carrier: 1985 - graduated from the Faculty of Biology at Sofia University. 1990 - PhD with a thesis “Karyotypes and reproductive system of representatives of some primitive families Pentatomomorpha (Heteroptera)” 1990-1992 – biologist, Institute of Zoology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. 1992-2003 - Scientific researcher, Institute of Zoology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. 2003-2010 - Assoc. prof., Institute of Zoology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences 2010-2014 - Assoc. prof., Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem research, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences since 15 April, 2014 - Professor, Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem research, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences 2002-at present - teaching “Cytogenetical methods in taxonomy” at Sofia University, Faculty of Biology, Department of Zoology. Specialization: 1986-1990 - PhD student, the Zoological Institute of AS USSR, Leningrad, Russia 1989 – 2 weeks training course, University of Novosibirsk, Russia 1993-2000 - collaboration with the colleagues at the Inst. of Animal Systelatics and Evolution, Cracow, Poland 1996–2009 - collaboration with the colleagues at the University of Turku, Finland. 1990-at present - collaboration with the colleagues at the Zoological institute, St Petersburg, Russia

ENTOMOLOGY – karyosystematics and evolution of insects with holokinetic chromosomes GENETICS – cytogenetics of holokinetic chromosomes (Relevant scientific techniques: cytogenetic techniques - routine procedure, differential staining, in situ hybridization (FISH), immunofluorescence).
