Biography
Oscar Cuzzani, M.D., Ph.D., joined BioTime as our Vice President of Clinical Development in February 2016. With more than 30 years of experience as a physician and in clinical development, Dr. Cuzzani has a wealth of experience practicing retinal surgery, and has held senior level positions working at some of the best research organizations including, the National Eye institute and the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. As an industry expert, Dr. Cuzzani has worked on several successful clinical trials in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry, over the past 15 years. Prior to joining BioTime, Dr. Cuzzani’s industry experience includes working at companies like AbbVie and Allergan where he gained experience with products in the fields of ophthalmology, aesthetics and immunotherapy. Dr. Cuzzani received his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Buenos Aires, in Argentina. His post-doctoral studies were at University of Iowa. Dr. Cuzzani has 3 patents in ocular medical devices, and was the founder of ERIC Technologies in Calgary, Canada and the cofounder of I-Sonic Medical in Paris, France for the development of eye instruments.
