Biography
Ed Scharringa was elected to the Agricultural Adaptation Council (AAC) board in 2016. He is one of two General Farm Organizations representatives on the board. Ed is a semi-retired farmer who has been farming and in business since his high-school days. Together he and his wife began a company called Dutch Mill Gardens in 1985. In 1997, they began a country market as part of their business. This became a landmark site until 2008 when they sold the operation and relocated to the Lynden area in order to expand their farming operation. The business is now owned and managed by Ed’s son, with Ed still acting as advisor and involved in sales. Ed’s career in the farming industry now focuses on experimenting with new products and ideas within horticulture on the smaller farm he himself still owns. Ed has served on the Christian Farmer’s Federation of Ontario Executive Board for the past 8 years.
