Biography
Dr. Stephen G. Withers is Khorana Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of British Columbia, where he holds joint appointments in the Department of Chemistry and Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Dr. Withers is internationally recognized for his research on enzyme mechanisms, particularly enzymes that process oligosaccharides. His research in this area has been recognized by the Corday Morgan Medal of the Royal Society of Chemistry, U.K. (1989), the Merck Award for Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry of the Canadian Society for Chemistry (1989), the 2002 Whistler Award of the International Carbohydrate Organization, and the Rutherford Medal of the Royal Society of Canada (1993). Steve’s expertise in the area of kinetics and mechanisms of enzyme action mesh well with the capabilities required to achieve the mission of the Company. Dr. Stephen G.
