Biography
Phil Ward is Executive Vice President of Aecon Mining, with all executive management responsibility for one of Aecon’s four key operating segments. Mr. Ward is responsible for executive strategy, business development and operations associated with Aecon’s mine construction services, and all contract mining in Canada’s oil sands. He has executive responsibility for the execution of projects (some valued above $1 billion), and the health and safety of thousands of project employees under his care. With over 40 years of experience in the mining, oil and gas, and manufacturing industries Mr. Ward brings a broad range of experience from the front line, to project management, to the role of President and Chief Operating Officer of Aecon’s predecessor company Lockerbie & Hole (formerly Adam Clark Company Ltd.). Mr. Ward’s experience and grass roots leadership style have earned him industry-wide respect throughout Canada, the United States, and internationally, as well as the loyalty and respect of all those who have worked for him and with him. Mr. Ward is a longtime member of the Association of Millwrighting Contractors of Ontario (AMCO) and respected member of the Canadian Safety Association of Ontario.
