Barbara A Billingsley

Biography

 Professor Billingsley is the author of General Principles of Canadian Insurance Law (2nd ed., LexisNexis, 2014) and a co-editor of The Civil Litigation Process: Cases & Materials (8th ed., Emond Montgomery, 2016). She is a recipient of the University of Alberta’s Rutherford Award for Undergraduate Teaching (2016) and the Tevie Miller Teaching Award for the Faculty of Law (2005). She has previously served as the Associate Dean (Research) and as the Associate Dean (Graduate Studies & Research) for the Faculty. Before joining the faculty as an Assistant Professor in 2001, Professor Billingsley practiced civil litigation in Edmonton, primarily in the area of insurance defence. She is currently a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Law Society of the Northwest Territories, the editorial board of the Canadian Journal of Insurance Law and the Board of the Edmonton Bar Association. She is also the Vice-Chair of The Advisory Board of the Centre for Constitutional Studies.
