Biography
Dr. Elena Bejan received her Ph.D. in the field of supramolecular chemistry from Université Paris XI at Orsay, France in 1996. Following post-doctoral fellowships at University of Houston and University of Ottawa focused on photochemical and synthetic organic chemistry, Elena joined the Process R&D department of Apotex Pharmachem Inc. in 2000. Elena has made substantial career advancements within Apotex acquiring knowledge and expertise in industrial process development, generic API and project management. Elena joined Alphora Research in 2010 in the position of Research Manager. In her current role, Elena is responsible for managing a group of Scientists and multiple complex programs focused on synthetic route selection, process development, and the scale-up manufacturing of multi-step API syntheses. ​ During her career, Elena has developed novel synthetic processes for numerous drug candidates including heterocycles, synthetic polypeptides and polymeric amine API’s. Elena has led multiple stages of development and manufacture of several APIs successfully launched to market. Elena is the author of over 30 scientific publications and patents.
