Rob Snow

Biography

I grew up in New Glasgow. Nova Scotia, a small town in the northern part of the province. During my teenage years, I thought that I would become a civil or mechanical engineer. However, after spending a year at Dalhousie University, God made it clear to me that he had other plans, and so I enrolled at Canadian Nazarene College in Calgary to study theology. After graduating from there, I attended Regent College and earned a Master of Christian Studies with a focus in New Testament. After taking a semester off, I then applied to the PhD program at Nazarene Theological College/University of Manchester and spent the next six years working on a thesis on Mark's use of the Son of Man. During my PhD work, I was a full-time youth pastor for three years and then taught Introduction to New Testament Studies at Trinity Western University in Langley, BC, for two years. In 2006, I began my appointment at Ambrose. I love teaching the Bible. I devote considerable effort to helping students realize its relevance both for their own lives and the world in which they live, guided by the Bible's own historical and literary contexts and, most importantly, the Holy Spirit.  In my experience, biblical illiteracy is growing at alarming rates within evangelical communities and, therefore, I desire to foster in students a love for the Word of God, an appreciation for its authority, and a realization that, through the work of the Holy Spirit, knowledge of Scripture effects the transformation of heart and mind. I am an ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene, and I teach and preach in the church whenever and wherever possible. Having grown up in this particular denomination, I appreciate its emphasis on the redeeming work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer and the need for loving neighbour in tangible ways.
