Biography

What's your favourite thing about Appnovation? My favourite aspects of Appnovation are definitely our collaboration, teamwork, and global openness. What's your story/professional background? I have 20+ years in project management, all of which has been in the technology space. I have also worked in both large corporations and small start-up environments in both services and product development. What do you bring to the table? My "get stuff done," or #GSD attitude and delivery. I approach this through balancing it out with my ability to build strong, loyal relationships with the team members. Also, my cemented reputation as the "Vancouver Work Mom," amongst many TES members. What do you do (in/out of work) to excel in your role? I approach work somewhat like positive parenting. There can be many comparisons (building a positive company environment can be compared to building a positive family/home environment). In summary, I always make sure I listen to others, I treat others fairly, and always try to see people's point of view so I can see their motivations and where they're coming from. I feel that this creates empathy and strengthens bonds/relationships... and happier people result in a more successful company (or family). What do you enjoy outside of work? You can definitely find me outside, active around Vancouver (I have a dog who needs to be walked every day). You also find me spending quality time with my children and family, cooking and regularly trying new culinary experiments. I also love attending live music concerts, movies, and Netflix! Do you belong to any boards/sponsor any charities, etc? If so, where? Last year I was a volunteer mentor for the international Technovation program at Appnovation and my team of high school girls placed in the semi-finals for building a mobile app that had a social awareness theme at Simon Fraser University. I enjoyed it immensely and have signed up to be a volunteer mentor again with them.
