Biography
What's your favourite thing about Appnovation? The people. What's your story/professional background? I have spent most of career in consulting and have been very blessed to work with many clients from all walks of life and different organizations. I started as a programmer and experienced progressive roles throughout the entire System Development Life Cycle. I enjoy it most when I am working with teams that are able to create solutions that bring together the people, process, and technology. I have also spent some time in the non-profit sector which gave me the appreciation of the challenges they faces in doing good for the society. My experience led me to firmly believe that as professionals, we need to be mindful of doing good while we are doing well. What do you bring to the table? Sharing my experience and scars on the few trips that I have had. I have been around the block a few times on IT projects. What do you do (in/out of work) to excel in your role? Understand first to be understood - at least that is what I am trying to do. What do you enjoy outside of work? Reading, going for walk with my wife, skiing, seeing my boys (not really boys anymore), and just doing nothing. Do you belong to any boards/sponsor any charities, etc? If so, where? I have sat on a number of boards over the years including the Canadian Data Processing Society, H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, BC Winter Games, etc. I am currently a member of the External Advisory Council for the Faculty of Applied Science at Simon Fraser University.
