Biography
Tillmann Benfey (Professor of Biology, UNB) is a fish physiologist with particular interests in applying scientific knowledge and training to advancing aquaculture. He has supervised the research of 35 graduate students, many of whom have gone on to careers in aquaculture. He has published over 85 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals and has served on the editorial boards of Aquaculture and the North American Journal of Aquaculture. In recognition of his research and training contributions, he received the AAC’s Research Award of Excellence in 2003, as well as awards from BioAtlantech, the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation and Science Atlantic. He has been an AAC member since 1988 and has twice served on its Board of Directors (1995-97 and 2007-12; President 2010-2011).
