Biography
After entertaining the notion of teaching high school mathematics and chemistry, Matt realized that God was calling him to a life of ministry, teaching, and biblical scholarship. Matt is a graduate of Acadia, having received his M.Div. in pastoral ministry in 2005 and his M.A. (Th) in biblical studies in 2006. An alum of McMaster University’s Religious Studies department, he recently defended his doctoral dissertation, which investigates how angelic beliefs contributed to the identity of the community responsible for the Dead Sea Scrolls. At both Acadia and McMaster, Matt has received numerous scholarships, awards, and prizes for his work, including the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada Doctoral Fellowship.
