Biography
Dr. Jamie Freedman is the President of AstraZeneca Canada Inc., part of AstraZeneca PLC, one of the world’s leading biopharmaceutical companies. Dr. Freedman has approximately 15 years of experience in the global biopharmaceutical industry. Most recently, he held the global role of Executive VP, Oncology, with primary responsibility for setting the Oncology strategy for AstraZeneca globally and delivering the organization’s industry-leading Oncology portfolio. In 2012, he joined MedImmune, the biologics research and development (R&D) arm of AstraZeneca, where he served as Senior VP and head of clinical development for all therapeutic areas. Prior to joining MedImmune, Dr. Freedman held a number of senior leader roles within the biopharmaceutical industry, including VP of Oncology R&D with GlaxoSmithKline Inc., Chief Executive Officer of Locus Pharmaceuticals (private biotech), Executive VP of R&D with OPKO Health, and Senior Director of Experimental Medicine with Merck & Co., where he oversaw portfolios of small molecules and biologics.
