Angie has a Ph.D. from the University of Calgary, an M.A. from the University of Western Ontario, and a B.A. from the University of Regina. After nearly completing a Ph.D. in Medieval Literature at the University of Western Ontario, Angie left academe to pursue her interest in creative writing. She later returned to academe and completed a Ph.D. at the University Calgary. In that program, the “creative option” dissertation allowed her to write a novel as partial fulfilment of the research requirement. Her dissertation, The Canterbury Trail, melds her interest in medieval studies and the contemporary novel. The project satirizes Canadian ski culture while drawing its theoretical framework from eco-criticism, pilgrimage studies, and edgework.
