Research Interest
My current research interests focus on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) issues and AI technologies in Online Learning, which can be classified into two categories: the first is to build educational simulations or interactive environments, either Web-based or wirtual world based, to increase depth of knowledge or to provide access to labs. For example, my team has been developing Algorithm Visualization system (AlgoVis) to help students learn Data Structure and Algorithms. the second is to build games to increase student engagement. A project we have been working on is building QuizMASter which is a quiz game similar to a TV game show, where a small group of contestants compete by answering questions presented by the game show host. Currently, we use English learning as the testbed to test proposed new methods or developed tools
