Biography
Dr. Marc Nesca is an Associate Professor in the Criminal Justice Program at Athabasca University. He completed his graduate training at the University of Manitoba, where he earned a Master's degree in social psychology and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. In addition to teaching, he also practices as a specialist in forensic psychology. Since completing his studies, Dr. Nesca has worked with the Correctional Service of Canada and has taught at both the University of Manitoba and the University of Calgary. In recent years he has worked with the Calgary Health Region, providing specialized diagnostic and consulting services to inpatient units in general psychiatry and forensic psychiatry. Dr. Nesca has been qualified as an expert in forensic psychology at all levels of Court in Alberta and his opinions have been accepted in criminal court cases across the Prairie Provinces and in the Northwest Territories. He has also consulted on homicide investigations in both Edmonton and Calgary, and has contributed educational seminars on forensic topics to both the Edmonton and Calgary Police Services. Dr. Nesca's research findings have been published in such journals as the American Journal of Forensic Psychiatry and the Journal of Ethics in Mental Health.
