Biography
David Whyte joined Ballard in 2006 to lead our Supply Chain Group. He was promoted to Director of Operations in January 2012 and then to Vice President of Operations in February of 2016. In this role he has functional responsibility for our multi-site Manufacturing activities, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering & Development, Facilities, and Environmental, Health & Safety. Mr. Whyte has over 30 years’ experience in operational roles within the high tech sector, with particular focus on Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Outsourced Production. Prior to joining Ballard he held senior management positions with Dynapro Systems, leading the production of Panelview Control Systems for Rockwell Automation, had responsibility for outsourced manufacturing operations in Mexico and China with Sierra Wireless, and, managed strategic procurement activities at Cray Computers. His studies have included international trade, negotiations, commerce and manufacturing accounting with CMC, SFU and UBC and he holds a diploma in Electrical Engineering from Kwantlen University. He has a passion for sport and outdoor activities along with a deep appreciation of our westcoast environment.
