Biography
Dr Paul Harasymowycz is head of the glaucoma section at the Université de Montréal, where he has been working as a clinician and researcher since 2001 at the Maisonneuve-Rosemont hospital as well as the Guy-Bernier research centre. He is also the medical director for the Bellevue clinics, the montreal glaucoma institute and the Quebec Glaucoma Foundation, which aims to encourage research in the field of glaucoma in Quebec, raise awareness about the disease and teach people who are affected by it. Dr. Harasymowycz focuses his research on glaucoma screening, new diagnostic techniques as well a new surgical treatments for both glaucoma and cataract surgery. He has a passion for teaching outsiders, residents and glaucoma fellows, and is often invited to present and teach surgical techniques at national and international conventions. He is a member of the American Society or Cataract and Refractive surgery (ASCRS) Glaucoma committee, and a part of the board of directors of the Associations des médecins d’ophtalmologistes du Québec (AMOQ). He has published over fifty articles in scientific journals as well as a multiple chapters in glaucoma books.
