Biography
Mr. C. Perry Spitznagel, Q.C. serves as Office Managing Partner and Vice Chairman at Bennett Jones LLP. Mr. Spitznagel is the Head of Bennett Jones's Public Markets Practice Group. His practice consists of a broad range of corporate and commercial matters including initial public offerings, public and private offerings of debt and equity securities, friendly and hostile takeover bids, mergers and acquisitions and corporate reorganizations, with a primary focus on mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance and corporate governance matters. He served as a Secretary of Royal Utilities Income Fund. Mr. Spitznagel has more than 20 years of national and cross-border experience and has acted for clients in some of the largest transactions in Canada. He has significant experience in mergers and acquisitions, having represented clients in over $25 billion of mergers, including many of Canada's and North America's largest national and cross-border mergers. He also has significant experience in the income trust sector, having represented clients in a number of initial public offerings, subsequent financings and mergers and having served as a Trustee of a public income fund. He has been a Director of AKITA Drilling Ltd. since November 1992. Mr. Spitznagel serves as Director of a public energy services company and a Director of an oil and gas exploration and development company. He was a Member of the Alberta Securities Commission Advisory Committee. He has been a speaker at numerous seminars on corporate and securities law matters, including mergers and acquisitions (national and cross border) and corporate governance.
