Biography
Mr. Rickard is a commercial executive with over 16 years of experience in the agri-food, energy and renewable fuels sectors having most recently served as VP Commercial Operations, Canada at Rothsay, a division of Darling International Canada Inc. (NYSE:DAR). Mr. Rickard has a family background in primary agriculture and is a graduate from the University of Guelph in Agricultural Business. After receiving his degree, he was recruited to the Management Trainee program with Maple Leaf Foods Inc. (TSX:MFI), taking on roles in the commodity meat and global marketing group. In 2005, Mr. Rickard moved first to London, UK and then to Hamburg, Germany as the manager of the European commodity meats trading business for Maple Leaf. In 2007 he had the opportunity to return to Canada to manage the commercial functions of Maple Leaf’s biodiesel operation as a part of their Rothsay division. Mr. Rickard also held responsibility for Maple Leaf’s energy purchasing function. In 2013 the Rothsay business unit was sold to Darling Ingredients Inc. and Mr. Rickard took on an executive role, and was responsible for all commercial activities of the Canadian business unit as well as being a key part of the business transition.
