Biography
Lydia has over 30 years of global experience in the practice of occupational hygiene and safety. She is very familiar with the practical applications of regulations related to health and safety in Canada and many jurisdictions worldwide, having worked for Labour Canada (now HRSDC), Health Canada, and the Ontario Ministry of Labour. She was corporate Industrial Hygienist for Bell-Northern Research, and EHS Manager for Nortel Semiconductors. Since 1999, she has focussed on the OHS consulting practice and internal processes at BluMetric Environmental Inc. She has served on several Boards, including WESA, Ontario’s WHSA, past President of the CRBOH, Past-Chair of the ABIH Board of Directors, and AIHA Fellows SIG. Lydia was awarded the 2008 Hugh Nelson Award of Excellence by OHAO, recognized as an AIHA Fellow in 2014, and as an AIHA Distinguished Lecturer in 2016. Lydia’s focus is a practical exposure judgement and risk-based approach to mitigating hazards.
