Biography
He joined the faculty at Booth University College in July 2015 as Assistant Professor of English Literature. Before arriving at Booth he studied for a PhD in English and Book History at the University of Toronto, where he was also a graduate fellow at the Centre for Reformation and Renaissance Studies at Victoria College. Before that he lived in Winnipeg where he completed a B.A. at the Canadian Mennonite University and an M.A. at the University of Manitoba.
Research Interest
The Literature of Consensus in Reformation England,†which looks at the figure of the poet-prophet in works by Spenser, Shakespeare, Milton and others, in relation to one of the central problems in early modern religion and politics: sectarianism. Other areas of interest include early modern republicanism, the emergence of capitalism, print and manuscript culture, devotional reading, and the biblical tradition.
