Biography
Jerry Hemmings arrived at Brandon University from the state of North Carolina in the fall of 1974 as Head Men’s Basketball Coach and instructor in the Department of Physical Education and Recreational Services. Jerry served as the men’s basketball coach from 1974 until 2004. While at the helm of the Bobcats his teams competed in 18 national championships winning four(4) gold, three (3) silver and one consolation championship. His Bobcat teams also won 19 Great Plains Athletic Championships ( 1980 – 2001) and won a Canada West Championship in their first year in CW in 2002. While serving as Men’s Coach Jerry coached 13 players that were named to the CIS All-Canadian team and two players (Johnny Carson 1985 and Patrick Jebbison 1988 &89 )) were named as CIS National Players of the Year )
