Biography
Mike is a life-long educator. Before arriving at Brandon University, Mike was a public school educator for 30 years. Most of this time was spent as a High School Math/Science/Computer teacher. For several years, Mike was also the ICT Leader for Boissevain School before spending 1 year as Vice-Principal and 3 as Principal. During this 30 years, Mike was active serving on many Manitoba Teachers Society and Manitoba Education Committees, including the COSL representative to the K-12 Math Steering Committee. Mike also served in many positions for the Turtle Mountain Teachers Association, including 2 years as President. He was also active in delivering workshops on a variety of topics, particularly in educational technology.
Research Interest
Mike’s current research interests are in the broad area of educational technology, in particular social learning and the role of social media. He also has an interest in the areas of professional learning communities, and transformative educational change. He is currently exploring, learning about and using online social media. Mike’s digital presence consists of several blogs and other social sites.
