Biography
Dr. MacNeil’s research team is investigating novel approaches toward understanding and blocking allergic inflammation caused by chronicpathologies, including asthma, hives, rhinitis, and food allergies. Dr. MacNeil’s Inflammation & Immunity Lab, located in the Cairns Complex, employs innovative biomedical methods and technologies permitting studies from the whole organism-level down to the fundamental genetic, molecular, and cellular building blocks directing uncontrolled inflammatory responses to allergens. Dr. MacNeil believes basic science discoveries feed clinical and translational approaches to a healthier future.
Research Interest
Identification of novel targets and innovative therapies in allergic inflammation; Epigenetic control of mast cell differentiation from stem cells; Cell signaling mechanisms in innate immune cell development and activation; Interdisciplinary collaborations exploring the role of immunity in the nervous and cardiovascular systems with links to biological and social outcomes.
