Biography
Sport is a highly regulated industry. Dr. Findlay’s research focuses on the regulatory nature and systems of sport, particularly, the private regulatory systems that pervade Olympic (i.e., global) and national high performance sport systems. Her focus is on athletes’ rights, which invokes the broad elements of increasingly intrusive anti-doping measures; athlete agreements, which athletes are required to sign; the uses of athletes’ images in sponsorship and licensing agreements; and, generally, human rights issues affecting athletes.
Research Interest
Regulatory foundations of sport, particularly focusing on: athlete agreements; anti-doping processes, particularly the hearing process of the biological passport; dispute resolution mechanisms. Governance mechanisms & fairness in decision-making processes in sport. Anti-doping hearing processes, particularly as related to the biological passport.
