Biography
Rebecca MacPherson research program strives to understand the relationship between disturbances in cellular homeostasis and metabolic diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and Alzheimer’s disease. The aims of her research program is two pronged: 1) to understand the role of lipid metabolism in maintaining cellular homeostasis with a focus on the role of adipose triglyceride lipase (ATGL) in the regulation of fat metabolism in adipose tissue, skeletal muscle, and liver in health and disease; 2) to understand the cellular mechanisms and pathology that contribute to neurodegeneration in metabolic disease.
