Biography
As Vice President, Law, Corporate Development and Energy, David Kohlenberg is responsible for providing legal support for TransCanada’s acquisition, divestiture, project development and major infrastructure activities. In addition, Mr. Kohlenberg is responsible for legal aspects of the Company’s investment in Bruce Power. Sincejoining TransCanada in August 1994, Mr. Kohlenberg has held positions of increasing responsibility in a broad range of business areas including pipeline regulatory, corporate development, midstream, international, finance and energy. Mr. Kohlenberg assumed his current position in March, 2014. Prior to this time he was Vice President, Power Law from December 2004 to September 2006; and Deputy General Counsel, Corporate Development and Finance Law from 2006-2014. Prior to joining TransCanada, Mr. Kohlenberg practiced law at the Calgary offices of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP (then known as Howard Mackie) where he focused on corporate/commercial, energy and insolvency matters. He articled at Howard Mackie in 1987 and continued his practice at that firm until leaving as a senior associate in 1994 to work for TransCanada. Mr. Kohlenberg holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon) and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Alberta (Edmonton). He was called to the bar in the Province of Alberta and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association, and the Calgary Bar Association. Mr. Kohlenberg has lectured at Bar Admission courses in Alberta and numerous seminars on various corporate and commercial law issues.
