Regina W. Carter

Biography

 Regina W. Carter is the vice president of Government Affairs and Communications for BWX Technologies, Inc. Prior to being elected to her current position in 2015, Ms. Carter held positions of increasing responsibility before being named director of Business & Employee Communications in 2010 when the Company became publicly traded and relocated its headquarters to Charlotte, N.C. She joined the Company as a communications specialist in the Public Relations department. During her professional career, Ms. Carter served in the Communications and Public Relations department of what is now AREVA, NP. She was also owner and president of R. W. Carter & Associates, Inc., a public relations and advertising firm. She founded the Central Virginia Celebrate America Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization formed after 9/11 attacks in the U.S. to honor those who serve and protect their communities. Ms. Carter earned a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in journalism from Lynchburg College in Lynchburg, Va. She is a member of the Public Affairs Council, Public Relations Society of America, the American Nuclear Society and Women in Government Relations. She also serves on the board of directors for Amazement Square Children’s Museum in and is a member of the Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra Advisory Council, also in Lynchburg, Virginia.  In 2015, Ms. Carter was appointed by Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe to serve on the Virginia Nuclear Energy Consortium Authority. The Authority is established for the purposes of making the Commonwealth a national and global leader in nuclear energy and serving as an interdisciplinary study, research, and information resource for the Commonwealth on nuclear energy issues.
