Biography
Dr. Sandra M. Barr is Professor and J. Austin Bancroft Chair in Geology in the Department of Earth and Environmental Science at Acadia University in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. She teaches courses in introductory geology, igneous petrology, tectonics, and Appalachian geology. Her research focuses on the geology of the northern Appalachian mountain belt, with an emphasis on field-based studies and petrology. She was President of the Geological Association of Canada in 2004-2005, and continues to serve GAC as Book Editor and Special Advisor to the President. She has been co-editor of the Atlantic Geoscience Society journal Atlantic Geology since 1986, and is co-author of a popular book on the Geology of Nova Scotia.
