Michael Mckeown

Biography

Michael McKeown is CFHI’s Corporate Secretary and the Foundation’s longest-serving employee, having joined the organization in 1998 after a 14-year career in municipal government. He provides strategic advice on governance and board-related matters to the President and to the Board of Directors, and monitors CFHI’s compliance with the statutes relevant to the organization’s status as a Canadian not-for-profit corporation and a Canadian registered charity. Michael also supports directors by coordinating and planning meetings of the Board and its committees, preparing (and managing the preparation of) meeting materials, and coordinating board succession planning, including the orientation of new members. Other tasks include responsibility for all board governance policies and CFHI’s conflict of interest policy. Michael reports directly to the President. In his spare time Michael is the President of a condominium corporation, enjoys kayaking off the coast of Vancouver Island, hiking in Gatineau Park, cycling, and has a great interest in history and genealogy.
