Craig Martin

Biography

Craig has a PhD. and MSc in Agricultural Economics and Business from the University of Guelph and a BA in Honours Economics from the University of Waterloo. Craig is also a Chartered Professional Accountant, Certified Management Accountant (CPA, CMA).  He has first hand knowledge of the challenges facing family-owned businesses having grown up in a family business. His parents owned a Home Hardware Store when he was a child. This gives him a special appreciation for small family-owned businesses. His family continues their entrepreneurial ventures as his "retired" father continues the family business of manufacturing crokinole boards, started by his grandfather.  Also, his sister along with his parents own and run a child care centre in Guelph, Ontario. In addition to his studies and work in agricultural economics, Craig has also done consulting and market surveys and analysis for business and government, along with work on international trade issues. He is especially interested in how business, finance and government policies affect international development. Craig teaches introductory micro and macro economics along with financial management, managerial accounting, management science and statistical analysis. 

Research Interest

Craig's research areas include interests in the effects of demographic change on the economy, food policy issues especially in Northern Canada  and the integration of Christian theology and economic theory.
