Biography
Dr. Michael Tanchak is a Professor of Biology. He received his BSc (Honours) from Carleton University and his PhD from the University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Tanchak’s primary area of research is the molecular biology of seed proteins in cereal crops with an emphasis on cultivated oats. In collaboration with Dr. Martha Jones [Department of Biology, Cape Breton University], an emerging area of research involves the use of DNA microsatellites to analyze the genetic diversity/structure of local killifish populations.
