Biography
During Ann’s undergraduate degree at the University of Victoria, her classes focused on the areas of botany and entomology. She also completed several co-op job placements: including the BC Center for Disease Control testing water samples from around the province; Safer Ltd. developing new organic herbicides; Agriculture Canada working with grape vine viruses; The Vancouver Aquarium as a Program Interpreter; and the Canadian Forest Service where she worked in biological control of forest pests. During her final undergraduate work term, she was offered a scholarship to complete graduate research with the Canadian Forest Service, exploring the biological control of the Douglas Fir Tussock moth using a naturally occurring virus. After completing her Master’s degree, she worked in the area of cancer research for local biotechnology companies where she investigated using artificial chromosomes as protein production platforms and liposome mediated gene therapy. Ann joined the faculty of Capilano University in 2007 and loves her job. She is a huge CSI fan and is currently working towards becoming a better photographer.
