Biography
Growing up in the Hawaiian Islands, Christy developed an appreciation for tourism and travel at an early age. She has worked at sea with Sitmar Cruise Lines, tour guided with Tauck Tours, gained event management experience with Maritz Travel and Journey Hawaii, and helped manage a resort in Jasper National Park. She later focused her energies in research and publishing. While working with the World Travel & Tourism Council she co-authored a text book titled Steps to Success and provided research assistance for numerous journal publications. Christy’s current area of focus is “people development”, specifically through cooperative education and mentorship. She is an active member of the Association of Cooperative Education, represents Cap U on the Co-op Accreditation Council and was recently certified as a Career Development Practitioner. Christy works year-round to build alumni involvement with the university and is a strong advocate of Cap’s tourism programs – both in and out of the classroom. She enjoys hiking, tennis, skiing and all sports associated with the ocean. When not working, she spends leisure time with family and friends scattered throughout the Pacific Northwest, the western United States and Hawaii.
