Biography
Michael came to Capilano University after working at the Pacific Northwest Diabetes Research Institute in Seattle Washington (PNRI). AT PNRI he researched the effects of reactive oxygen species (ROS) on pancreatic beta cell function. Using fluorescent microscopy and blotting techniques he also investigated the expression of antioxidant enzymes in human and rat beta cells. Before relocating to Seattle, he completed his Ph.D studies at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Medicine. Michael is fascinated by endocrinology, stress physiology and glucose homeostasis. His professional career outside of academia includes serving as associate editor and writer for the Healthy Brain Program.
