Richard Lemon

Biography

Rick Lemon has over 30 years experience in the tourism/hospitality industry and most recently was Vice-President, Operations for Tourism British Columbia with direct responsibilities for Visitor Services and Sales, Tourism Product Management, Training Services and Information Technology. Rick has extensive experience in tourism development specializing in visitor servicing and labour market development.  He was responsible for the creation of the SuperHost™ Program which has become a standard for tourism/hospitality training both in Canada and internationally and has assisted the industry with a number of successful professional development and human resources initiatives.  He also oversaw the development of the Visitor Services Strategy for the Tourism Industry Consortium for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.  He currently operates a consulting practice, Tourism Management Services, out of Victoria.  Rick has been an adjunct professor at the University of Victoria and is a faculty member at Capilano University teaching in the tourism degree program. He is presently serving on the Board of the College of Dental Surgeons of British Columbia, The Prostate Centre in Victoria and the President’s Council for Tourism in Saskatchewan.  Rick is the recipient of a number of industry awards/commendations including the William Horne Visionary Award from Tourism Vancouver.
