Biography

Mr. Robert A. Michaels, also known as Bob, served as the President of General Growth Management, Inc. Mr. Michaels served as the Chief Operating Officer of General Growth Properties Inc., since 1995. Mr. Michaels served as the President of General Growth Properties Inc., from 1995 to October 2008. He began his career at General Growth in 1972. Mr. Michaels served as General Counsel for five years and as an Executive Vice President and Director of Corporate Leasing for fifteen years. He serves as a Director of General Growth Management, Inc. Mr. Michaels served as the Vice Chairman of General Growth Properties Inc., since 2010 and served as Director from 1995 to October 2008. He serves as the Chairman of the Board of The Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited. Mr. Michaels is one of the industry's most sought-after retail experts and serves on the Board of Directors for the Center for Urban Land Economics Research at the School of Business of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is an ex-officio trustee of ICSC, and also serves the Board of Trustees of the University of South Dakota Foundation. He served as ICSC Government Affairs Chairman for the States of Iowa, Nebraska and has served State Director for Minnesota, North Dakota. Mr. Michaels is a Member of Minnesota State Bar Associations and the American Bar Association. He is a Member of Executive Committee at International Council Of Shopping Centers Inc. He is a frequent speaker on industry panels and has written numerous articles on the shopping center industry for various trade magazines and journals. Mr. Michaels was Editor of the Law Review of University of South Dakota. In 1989, he was named alumnus of the year by the University of South Dakota. Mr. Michaels holds his Juris Doctor from the University of South Dakota and Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
