Dr. Thomas Gregoire Associate Professor, Theoretical Physics
Research Interest
My main interest lies in extensions of the Standard Model of particle physics. These extensions aim at addressing various problems present in the Standard Model, such as the origin of mass, the structure of its gauge symmetries, the structure of quarks and lepton masses and mixings, and the presence of dark matter. My main focus has been on the origin of mass, or in other words, the mechanism that break the electroweak symmetry. This yet unknown mechanism should be explored by the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), soon to be turned on in Geneva, Switzerland, and this exploration promises to lead to a very exciting time in particle physics. I have worked on various aspects of little Higgs models, supersymmetry and models with extra dimension and maintain an interest in all possible extensions of the Standard Model or of the General Theory of Relativity.
