Biography
Ernest Kwan received his M.A. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill under the supervision of Forrest Young. Ernest received his Ph.D. from York University under the supervision of Michael Friendly. Ernest’s area of specialization is the development of statistical graphics for social science research. He particularly focuses on graphics that facilitate the understanding and communication of data analysis results. He is also interested in the use of graphics for teaching statistics in order to promote a visual approach to data analysis. His current research involves the development of the tableplot, a semi-graphic display to assist the interpretation of numeric information presented in tabular form. His research on the tableplot was a winner of the 2008 student paper competition of the Statistical Graphics Section of the American Statistical Association.
