Biography
Fred Chinn is vice-president and general manager, Powell River Division. Fred was employed with Catalyst from 2000 to 2012 as maintenance and engineering manager at the Crofton mill and as paper mill production manager at the Port Alberni mill. Following a period where he was maintenance director at Longview Fibre, Fred returned to Catalyst as general manager of the Port Alberni Division, before assuming his current role as vice-president and general manager. Fred has significant leadership experience in aligning operations and maintenance goals, processes and relationship to achieve sustained improvements in machine efficiency and mill performance. Fred holds a mechanical engineering degree from Technical University of Nova Scotia and an engineering diploma from St. Mary’s University.
