Biography
Mary Martin is vice president and associate general counsel, USG Corporation. She was previously associate general counsel – litigation and served in the position since 2000. Martin is responsible for managing litigation involving USG and it s subsidiaries. During USG’s reorganization, she was responsible for the proceedings relating to resolution of USG’s asbestos liabilities. Martin also provides antitrust, compliance and other counseling and serves on the corporation’s business ethics compliance committee and enterprise risk management committee. Martin received a juris doctor degree from Northwestern University School of Law. Prior to joining USG, Martin was a partner in a Chicago litigation firm. Her practice focused on commercial litigation, including trials of antitrust, products liability, and franchise and distributor lawsuits. She also represented United States Gypsum Company in various asbestos property damage cases. Martin has served as an adjunct professor of trial advocacy at Northwestern University School of Law and taught courses in deposition techniques and trial advocacy at the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.
