Robert G. Ashe

Biography

Mr. Robert G. Ashe, also known as Rob, has been a Director of MSCI Inc. since December 02, 2013. Mr. Ashe served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Cognos Espana. Mr. served as the President of Cognos Inc. (now, Cognos ULC) since April 10, 2002 and served as its Chief Executive Officer since June 23, 2004 until 2008. He was responsible for R&D, Services and Support. He joined Cognos Inc. in September 1984 and served as its Chief Operating Officer from May 10, 2001 to June 2004. He served as the Senior Vice President of Products at Cognos Inc. from May 1997 to July 1999 and also served as its Senior Vice President of Application Development Tools from April 1996 to May 1997. He also served as Chief Financial Officer of Cognos Inc. and also served as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations. Prior to that, he held various Vice President roles within Product Development and Corporate Finance. He served as Senior Vice President and the Chief Corporate Officer of Cognos Inc. from May 2001 to April 2002 and served as its Senior Vice President of Worldwide Customer Services from July 1999 to May 2001. For over 24 years, Mr. Ashe held a variety of positions with increasing responsibility at Cognos Inc. He retired from IBM Corporation ( IBM ) in January 2012, where he served as General Manager of Business Analytics from January 2010 to January 2012 and served as General Manager of Business Intelligence and Performance Management since 2008. Mr. Ashe has nearly 30 years of experience in the technology sector. He has been a Lead Independent Director of Shopify Inc. since 2015. He has been an Independent Director of Shopify Inc. since December 2014 and Independent Director at ServiceSource International, Inc. since March 12, 2013 and Halogen Software Inc. since February 14, 2013. He has been a Member of Technology Advisory Board of Bridge Growth Partners, LLC since June 24, 2013. He serves as a Member of Advisory Board at Georgian Partners. He served as a Director of Cognos Inc. since June 23, 2004 and Third Brigade, Inc. since October 2007. He is also a Chartered Accountant in Canada. Mr. Ashe holds Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting from University of Ottawa.
