Biography
Blake has helped set both the pace and the standard of production at Corkscrew Media and Stir Films. Blake began his career in film and television in 1991 creating storyboard artwork for the feature film Almost America, soon followed by directing the reality series The Letters for Bravo. In 2001 Blake joined Corkscrew as a series writer for Taste! The Beverage Show and by year two was also directing the series. As Corkscrew’s senior writer and director, Blake has since directed over 100 episodes of television for Corkscrew Media. His recent television credits include Out of Country, Pet Heroes, Paul Brandt’s Build It Forward, The New West, Unreserved, and New Faces for CBC Television. Blake continues to be a key element of Stir Film’s continued growth and success, writing and directing commercials and corporate videos for clients such as the City of Airdrie, The Canadian Agricultural Safety Association, Alberta Motor Association, Burnco, UFA and the Military Museum. He also directed 36 promotional travelogue videos for WestJet Vacations. In addition to his work at Corkscrew, Blake has written and directed three independent short films, garnering critical reviews and international recognition, including Best Short at Hollywood’s “Shriekfest” and official selection at the Worldwide Short Film Festival in Toronto.
