Biography
As the resident Director of Photography (DOP) at Stir Films, Mike brings with him more than 17 years of experience behind the camera. Mike graduated from the Radio & Television Arts program at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) in 1997 and was quickly snapped up to work at CKSA in Lloydminster. One year later when an opening to work at A-Channel in Calgary arose, Mike jumped at the opportunity, subsequently spending five years at the station. Mike joined Corkscrew Media in 2003 and has since been fortunate enough to have filmed everywhere from the high arctic to Australia and most points in between. An integral part of Corkscrew’s success, Mike continues to contribute a strong sense of visual storytelling to the creation of countless hours of quality television programming. A positive force behind the camera, Mike’s recent television credits include DOP on the travel series Out of Country, and Documentary DOP on the 24-part series Pet Heroes. He has been DOP on countless corporate pieces including a series of travelogues produced for WestJet Vacations and content for the WestJet Channel. He was also the DOP on the Calgary Stampede’s “We’re Greatest Together” video, documenting Stampede’s flood recovery efforts.
