Biography
Aephraim M. Steinberg serves as Member of the Scientific Advisory Board of D-wave Systems Inc. Dr. Steinberg grew up in New York and earned his B.S. in Physics at Yale University in 1988. Dr. Steinberg then spent a year working at the Ecole Normale Superieure in Paris, before attending U.C. Berkeley for graduate school. At Berkeley, he carried out his Ph.D. under Prof. Ray Chiao, studying quantum weirdness and faster-than-light tunneling. He then did a postdoc at Jussieu (Univ. de Paris), and one in Bill Phillips's laser cooling group at NIST, before taking up a position in 1996 as Assistant Professor of Physics at the University of Toronto, where he has been ever since.
